Description
An apt depiction of beach life at Coolum, on a perfect, clear day.
Fine, skies and crystal clear blue and turquoise water, beckons to you to grab a board and catch a wave or two. Tickle Park flanks the beautiful, wide beach of Coolum, with its golden sands stretching as far as the eye can see. It’s full of pandanus palms and fig trees, where locals and tourists alike unwind with a picnic, barbecue or just enjoy the view. In the painting we have two surfers, just coming off a surf, relaxing with drinks and nibblies, under the pandanus in the park – now content to be spectators to the other surfers and body boarders riding the waves. A lone bicycle leans against the wooden fence separating the park from the beach. I’ve left it up to you to ponder if the rider has gone for a walk, surf or perhaps it belongs to one of the two people seated at the table…….I’ve captured the interesting root system of the pandanus trees with various shades of browns, siennas, ochres and reds. The foliage displays a wide variety of colours, to add depth and highlights to emphasise those in the light and others in the shade. Natural sandstone rocks are scattered throughout the painting.Exposed aggregate concrete paths of ochres wind their way through the trees, leading your eye to a speculative spot, to take advantage of the magnificent beach view. The painting has captured the ambience of a beach life. If you can’t be there – take it home with you and enjoy!
